Ball fields
Four softball and baseball fields are located along Highway 200 and adjacent
to North Star II Park. Summer softball and baseball programs for youth
and adults are organized through Hazen Parks and Recreation Department.

Walking Trails Several miles of hard surface paths are available for your enjoyment along Highway 200, County Road 9 and West Main Street. Hazen Community Education offers walking indoors in the Hazen Elementary School during winter months by calling 701-748-6814. |
| Bird Watching/Wildlife
Viewing Hazen, North Dakota serves as an excellent central point for a birding adventure in the land where Lewis and Clark wintered and met Sakakawea. Hazen is located in a major prairie region of the Central Migratory Flyway. The town is close to the Missouri River as well as several National Wildlife Refuges and public lands, all of which provide outstanding opportunities for bird watching and the viewing of wildlife. Most of the 354 species that have been recorded in North Dakota can be seen here during some period if the year. Numerous species of prairie birds and migratory waterfowl make the area a special treat for birders. A few of these species include: Bald Eagle, Whooping Crane, Least Tern, Piping Plover, Loggerhead Shrike, Northern Shrike, Burrowing Owl, Snowy Owl, White Pelican, American Bittern, Long-billed Curlew, McCrown's Longspur, Chestnut-collared Longspur, Sprague's Pipit, Baird's Sparrow, and Upland Plover. Hazen
Bay Recreation Area is located on Lake Sakakawea 15 miles north of Hazen.
Campsites with lake access, electricity, picnic tables and grills are available.
Improvements include boat ramps, docks, breakwater protection for the dock
and ramp area, fish cleaning station and comfort station. For reservations

Fishing
The Lake Sakakawea/Missouri River system has

Golf
Located
just east of Hazen on Highway 200, the Hazen Golf Club is home to
what has been called, "The Shortest Par Five in North Dakota." That
hole is the number one handicap hole, the par-3 fifth, which measures 200
yards from the back tees. Your tee off through a tree-lined shoot
across the Knife River to a severely crowned green. snack bar, restaurant,
lounge, pro shop, practice range, cart rental and club rental are available.

Figure Skating The All-Seasons Arena is used for hockey and figure skating programs for boys and girls of all ages. The facility has a large spectator area, concession stand and heated viewing area. Hockey tournaments, an annual ice skating show, and various community events are hosted in the facility throughout the year. Playgrounds North Star II Park is located on 7.3 acres along Highway 200. Sailing
Sail North Dakota provides charter sailing aboard the "Utopia" which is moored just outside Sakakawea State Park near Pick City. Sakakawea is a charter sailing service that operates from
Dakota Waters Resort. Sailing excursions on a well-equipped 34-foot sailboat
with a Coast Guard licensed captain can be booked for a few hours or a
